Background:
Soda Smart was founded by Nurse Practitioner, Susana Rios in 2020. Rios received her Masters Degree in Nursing from Yale University. https://nursing.yale.edu/susana-rios-17
While attending nursing school, Rios learned that diabetes disproportionately affects the minority populations. As a member of a minority population, Rios experienced first-hand how her community suffered from uninformed and detrimental diets. With this in mind, Rios created Soda Smart to reach out to under-represented communities with families less knowledgeable about nutrition and diabetes.
